I agree with you, I would not be happy if I found out that I had bought a tractor and paid more and did not get the ten extra horsepower that was advertised. I do know that some tractors are underrated more than others are. From what I have seen you will always get what you were promised but sometimes you get more than you were promised! The prices down here in northwest Florida and south Alabama must be a good bit cheaper than in new england. I have been quoted 17400 for a 2 wheel drive 471 with a canopy and independent pto, the 481 is about 1400 more. Even down here there is a good bit of differences in price quotes between dealers. We are fortunate to have an excellent Massey dealer in this area.
