Massey Ferguson 35 Petrol/TVO Water Jacket "bung" in Cylinder Head

Hi,

The pictures below show the cylinder head from a 1958 Massey Ferguson 35 Petrol/TVO. The larger hole with the arrow pointing to it had an alloy "bung" screwed in flush and goes into the water jacket of the head. This "bung" wasn't in very good condition and during the cleaning process the chemicals in the cleaner put a hole in it and we had to remove it.

Does anyone know where we can get a replacement "bung" and what the official name of the part would be?

That depends... If the plug is not threaded it would be called a core plug, otherwise it would be called a pipe plug. Do you have a picture of the actual plug or "bung" that was removed?

Unfortunately it fell apart as it came out. The top of it was completely flush with the cylinder head, so I guess it would be a pipe plug as it wasn't dished like a core plug.

Maybe a freeze plug you can get at your auto parts store.

Was it threaded? It's difficult to tell from the pictures you posted.

Yes, there is a thread in the cylinder head.

Well there you go, a pipe plug. now to figure if straight or tapered. Give close up photo please.
