1965 Massey Ferguson 2135 Industrial. 1967 Massey Ferguson 135. 1996 New Holland/Ford 6640
Today I finally got my first tractor :) A 1965 Massey Ferguson 2135 industrial tractor. Has the mount/shaft for a front mount aux hydraulic pump, power steering, a gas engine (I really wanted a Perkins diesel), 3 point, pto, 3 speed hi/low range (no multi power), shuttle shift, and almost new rear tires for $1500.00 cash.

She needs a little work, new spindle bushings, steering box adjusted, adjust the toe in (it's got 3 or so inches tow out now), a couple of hyd hoses for the power steering, the starter spins but won't engage (turned the engine over a few times from the aux hyd pump drive, has good compression), and clean the carb. The major thing it that it won't go into reverse (the reason it was parked), all the other gears are fine. So I don't think I did too bad for $1500.00, but the first thing is figuring out why it won't go into reverse, the rest is easy. You can feel it try to go in but it won't.

This one does have 3 point, and pto (it's the main reason I bought it so I can use my 3 point Woods shredder).

Also if you try to force it to go into reverse (which it won't go into reverse), afterwards it takes a little bit of effort to get it into first, but one it's in first it will go from neutral to first easy.

After I replaced the starter drive (it had wrong one which was too small in diameter) put some fuel to it, and it fired right up. Now I found out why it was parked, it has a pretty good rod knock. I have all the bushings, and stuff coming to re-bush the spindles, and axle pivot. Since I have to pull the front axle off I'll also pull the engine, and look at how bad the internals are. Other than the rod knock it ran pretty good, I'm going to do a leak down test on the cylinders to see how good they are.

Sounds like you know what you are doing for sure as all that would be far beyond my talents . Have fun and enjoy .

Well, it wasn't rod knock it's a broken crankshaft at the center main journal (it's not visible with the main cap on, the front part of the crank turns about 1/4" before the rear part of the crank does). I have to pull the engine to see if the block is damaged (haven't pulled the main cap yet) it will probably need to be line bored. Luckily a friend of mine has a crankshaft. But it makes me wonder if this is normal occurrence with the Z134 engine, if it is I'll probably swap in a different engine.

Well I thought it was rod knock, but found this instead
