I finally got the time to actually start removing the head from my 1956 Tef.
When I removed the tappet/rocker assembly, My first parts fatality occurred.
One of the towers holding the rocker shaft in place has broken into 3 parts.
Firstly what would you call this part and do you know if it is available to purchase, or do I learn to weld cast iron?

Hmm, strange failure, a used one should be quite easy to get.

AGCO Parts Books ->
guest view ->
select massey ferguson from drop down menu ->
type in TE 20 ->
click search ->
all the way down at the bottom i do believe is link you want.

from there just google the part numbers.

you also might try googling, tractor salvage yards, or a local agco dealer (and there many brands), and see if they can pull something up.

The other question I have is about the rings that are above the liner.
I can see that the top incomplete ring creates the precombustion chamber. But I have a second complete ring below the top one.
Is this average or do I have a non standard cylinder liner set?

Unfortunately the site will not allow a guest login from my Ipad. But I will keep looking.

I do belive there are two rings, if I understand my original service manual

Two rings would be good, an engine from 1956 can be hard enough to find parts for without it being an unusual version

Agreed. The only TEF I ever saw has a Standard Diesel in it. Happily, I didn't need engine parts.
