Hi all,
For those with a 2006 GC2300/2310 (i.e., still under warranty) -- While my tractor was in the shop for an unrelated issue, I had the dealer install the hydraulic filter guard that is standard on newer models. Massey covered the costs. I've heard that others have had to pay for it out of pocket, so I would suggest that you get your service people to duke it out with Massey.
As for the unrelated issue -- a stint of work in very tall grass with my 2300 destroyed the seal where the drive shaft enters the rear unit. The grass wrapped itself around the shaft and worked its way backward until the seal was broken and the hydraulic fluid started pouring out. Turns out that the replacement seal is actually a much more robust 'update'. This leads me to think that my tractor isn't the first that has been put out of comission by grass. My point to other 2300/2310 owners -- beware tall grass. If you don't have a mower deck mounted, it may have some serious ramifications.
Hope this info helps somebody.
