Default GC2300 quit running and won't start

First off, I know very little about mechanical things. The tractor has 65 hours on it and has been starting and running great up until today. I started it up, let it warm up then drove it a short distance then turned the throttle to low and got off to grab my gloves. It started running rough, the valves seemed to get louder then it died and won't start at all. It turns over just fine but won't start. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like a fuel issue.

Check fuel level.
Check fuel shut off to make sure it is open.
Check clear plastic fuel bowl and see if there is fuel in it.

Remove air filter and spray WD-40 Directly in the air intake for the engine. Attempt a cold start. If it starts, (momentarily), check/replace fuel filters. Then, if it still will not run, it could be a problem with the injector pump.

IF the WD-40 does not work, it could be serious.

Maybe a problem with the seat switch?? We had a broken wire in ours, disabled and by-passed it, all fine now.

Keep us posted.

The seat switch keeps the engine from cranking, he said it was turning over.

Thanks Ray. At only 65 hours, I really hope it is a simple problem like a fuel delivery problem, like a filter.

First things first... there's plenty of fuel in it and the gauge is working...?

Well,

I pulled the fuel filter and it was very dirty. Grit on the bottom, even a fly floating in it. I dumped some fuel into a glass jar and I could see grit and stuff on the bottom of the jar. I did this a few times until the fuel was coming out clean. I know the pump is working because I am getting fuel to the engine. What else could it be?

Update 2:

I had a mechanic come out today and this is what he found. The fuel at the injector looks is very cloudy looking and he thinks it's water contamination. The injector is not sending fuel to the engine. He want's to pull the injector pump and send it to an injector shop. Also he wants to drain the fuel tank and start with good fresh deisel. It ticks me off that I've had the tractor just over a year and I'm already having to pull the injector. This guy seems pretty knowleagble and was recommended by a reputable local service.

I guess I really need to be careful with my fuel handling in the future.

Warranty? When we bought our 1523, we bought 2 new fuel cans(yellow) just for that reason. Buy famr fuel, now from Husky, extremely busy, and add Kleen Flo One shot to every fill up, as well, as some in the can.

Keep us posted.

Well, as for warranty, I doubt the warranty will cover fuel contamination. That is pretty much owner responsibility. I just plan to be very careful with my fuel cans (not leave them open, etc) and keep my fule tank at least half full all the time.
