Default Massey 135 generator to alternator swap

Hey guys I'm adding some lights to the tractor and was wondering about replacing the generator with an alternator. If there is much work and cost. Also if anyone could tell me if there is a blockheater that fits the 3cyl Perkins diesel. I'll need something to help it start this winter other than dynamite (ether) Thanks.

i assume you will not lose your tach if you change from gen to alt.

but sure you check the rpm needed to kick the alt into the charge mode.

have heard some will not charge until tractor is running a higher rpm's.

This may have been on older tractor conversions like 8n's and 20/30 Fergs.

Hey guys I just finally got all the parts installed for the swap. Went easy enough all be it the loader really restricts the v-belt I could use. The alternator is a one wire and only kicks in at pto speed on the tach. A smaller pulley might help. Or it could be I'm still running through the original voltage regulator. I'm thinking about bypassing it later to see if it helps.
