Needed this like hole in head, but here it is.I suspect it is a 1958-59 & built in Kansas. The ID plate saysthe following. I can find anything on this tractor on the net. He gotme for 1400.00 & might have payed to much but couldn't resist.Thing is built dozer like. Much bigger than I thought once I got drove it home in 5th gear..*s* looks to be provisions for PTO that are bolt plated off on back, has very large remotes. everything works & runs good. The shuttleshift takes getting used to & jerky for me yet. The loader is stout & strange design. This would run over my little JD like a bug. Anyone ever see this model..? or know were info would be on it.?
Massey-Ferguson
Industrial Division
Wichita, Kansas.
Model 500-406
serial# 1643

Owner mention backhoe mounted on it, but he didn't own it very long. He took it on trade & he rebuilds dozers & such for a hobby. I can see 1958-61, but 68-73 seems not right. The id tag also has 1009 S. West Street Wichita Kansas on it. I suspect since they moved the industrial dividion to Detroit in 61 I think I read, this would date it from 58-61 if true. MF bought some company in in 57-58 in Kansas & turned that into there Industrial Division & then moved it to Detroit shortly after that. I will take pictures of the front & front axle & post them Friday.
Thanks Joe

I found an ID plate on frame yesterday. It says...
Massey-Ferguson Inc.
Racine, Wisconsin USA
Model# nothing is stamped or written here.
Serial# 653 000027
Also I found these #'s on engine.
G 16 V - on the block
E400A600 also on block
E223E 600 on manafold
E400A602 on top of head
large 2 AM also on top of head
Carb say "Marvel" something? on it
Also a 1/2" thich steel cross member has MHF Canada w/ 767607M1
Loader arms also has additional #675-2 & 1400 337 M1
I suspect machine has close kin to MF 356 industrial tractor shovel @ 10,700lbs. I could be wrong but they sure have alot in common. Trans, loader, size & shape. I still don't have a clue what it really is. looks like #27 built though.

I suspect around 60hp.I am researching this unit very hard. Definately built @ Racine, Wisconsin plant & suspect 57-58. It does have parts on it from the MHF Canadian plant also. I see parts so far from 3 MHF & MF plants. I have decided to keep it. The fact that it starts at turn of key stone cold & doesn't smoke & everything else working has me in. Allready started wire wheeling & getting ready to paint rusted & open spots, nothing fancy & just good industrial yellow paint to slow the rust down. Sure wish I could find an old picture of this unit, so I could compare. Might not be any left as I suspect not many were built for some reason. I think the transistion period in 57-58 has something to do with it. I will be attacking a stump or 2 with it in 2 months or so.

Positive ID has been made on the engine by Jerry @ Monte's Equipment.
It is a E223 w/ 3 & 13/16" bore & is a sleeved motor. @ 1600RPM produced 60.5 hp. Some Massey 85 models had this motor.Now on to the tractor ID itself.

Cool. Keep us posted. I am curious. If it were mine I would do just as your doing, protect it from further rust and I would use it around the place. If ya beat it up a little its no big deal. I think its cool looking.

I have a big beast like this, the serial number was found on the dash under steering wheel... Have not been able to find model, but my serial # 9A 290074 with 11L - 16SL front, 18.4 X 26 on rear... The bucket is 88" wide, tractor & Loader both industrial yellow, also has solid front axle, ...
Need to order parts and manuals, but have no clue what this monster is. It has 4 cyl diesel and looks to be in the 60 HP range...
When it rained today, I could see MF in black letters and the number 500 on the loader arms, please reply if you can help.... Email jjamit99@aol.com
Thanks
