I have a MF 40B industrial tractor with a 54A backhoe attachment. The rotary swing cylinder splines are stripped and thus no longer rotates the hoe. I have the boom assembly removed and the cessna rotary swing cylinder is removed. I understand this is the weak link on this model. Replacement is unavailable.
The tractor is in great shape and would like to have it back in operation.
After talking to others in the know, the go-to fix is to retrofit two double acting straight cylinders in the rotarys stead.
Has anyone done this? Are there any pictures available? Mounting points? Recommended cylinder size? (thinking 3000 psi 2" shaft). Are there any weldable mounting eye sources for a 1" pin setup? Any thoughts / help is much appreciated.
