Tractor
MF 35x
Hello tractor folk,
I have recently attained my first tractor, a fully rebuilt Massey 35x.
Tried the diff lock today (by standing on the foot pedal), and have lost the ability to steer. It doesnt seem to be disengaging.
Any tricks or tips before we start surgery?
Any advice gladly accepted.
Thanks,
Don.

1] Youre not supposed to stand on the pedal - merely push it with moderate force. When the gears line up [due to 1 wheel rotating more] it will engage and lock the axles together. 2] The pedal is spring loaded to the disengage position and should disengage after you release pressure as soon as axle forces equalize. Try steering gently one way and then the other. This should remove load on the lock and it should pop out. If not try pulling the pedal while doing it. Also check the linkage for binding. Hopefully there is no internal damage from standing on the pedal.

Drive slowly while cutting the wheels back and forth as you pull up on the pedal. It should release then.
