Warm engine Stall MF135 - perkins3 Cyl gas

Got the tractor up and running after 5 years idle. Brushed hogs about 2 acres then it just cut out and stopped running. 1 min later it turned over fine. Then sometimes it would turn over and putter and die. After starting I could drive 1/4 mile then it would cut out. waited a few minutes and it started right up. Limped back to the barn.

Doesn't seem to matter what direction or incline when the engine cuts out. I did notice a repeative loss of power problem occured when turning a corner and going up hill.

new gas, Gas tank 1/2 to 3/4 full. new fuel line and filter.

Swapped out solniod and did the same thing after I drove up hill all the way back to the field.

Any Thougts on cause? Know of anyway to test soliniod?

What do you mean by solenoid? Do you mean the coil? You could also have a bad Distb....could be issues with it getting warm and seizing, could be the points and cond, but typically either they work or they don't....points might be worn so bad that when you try and work it the spark can't jump and it dies...but to me it sounds like the coil is pooched...

Sounds to me as though the fuel system has a clog somewhere; when not running, enough fuel trickles through to build up a reserve (carb bowl, etc.) to run for a while, but the small delivery rate can't keep up once it's running so it runs lean and then stalls. Let it sit, process repeats....

Classic symptoms of a mostly-clogged filter, fuel pick-up, carb passage, or other susceptible part. Could even be a fuel line, degraded by ethanol in fuel.

Everything was fine initially, it just took the first hour or so of running for the culprit(s) to lodge themselves in the fuel system.

I run across this all the time when trying to get old bikes that have sat for a long time back into operation. Frustrating.
