Time for a rebuild?

My massey ferguson 135 diesle has started to spray a light mist of motor oil out the exaust pipe. I asume it is near time for a rebuild. Can anyone suggest a site that has low prices on a rebuild kit for a Perkins 3 cyl. diesle enging? Tractor serial #9A I8566. ( it is possible that the "I" in the serial # is a "one". G'day check out the bare co site they have full rebuild kits avail not sure over there about price but good value here and good quality we run an ag repair workshop and have no worries about using there stuff.

I used YTMAG.com for lots of parts.
SSB tractor is a little higher, but I got some parts from them.
Stevens tractor is a small shop and they are a Christian family place, but their
Lead times may be a little longer

Mine stArted as a little knock lift pump failed on previous owner
And spun a rod bearing.
Full total complete rebuild, including $700.00 at machine shop was
About $4000 with me doing all of the labor.

How did it cost you $4g? New head is around $500 and rebuild kit with new crank is like $675 where did the rest come from? I have the same perkins 3 cyl and would like to know if it is going to cost alot more than I think.

We had around $2,500 in to ours. That included a block repair, semi finished sleeves pressed in and finished, new pitsons pressed on, new rings, all bearings & Gaskets, water pump, exhaust manifold, spin on conversion head. Not included was the injector pump needed an overhaul, injectors were rebuilt, and 2 sets of injector lines.

They are inexpensive to rebuild. Machinist recommended Perkins head gasket, so we did that.

Please let me apologize for overstating my cost estimate. It just felt like 4K.

After adding all of the receipts that I could find, I totalled out at $3200.00

I did not find the receipts for water pump and oil pump.

I'll post another list of things done, and mistakes made.

$ 20.00 remove pressure plate bolt from flywheel that I broke off
$ 95.63 6 bolts to hold pressure plate on ( broke one off line above)
$ 151.87 Starter
$ 69.77 six cans of flint gray metallic ( not at tractor supply) for engine.
$190.91 Exhaust manifold and custom muffler with down pipe
$315.00 dual clutch pressure plate with captive 9" disc, full decal set for tractor, front cross bar.
$293.00 radiator purchased locally

I could not find receipts for oil pump, water pump, and various other parts.

PS, while you have it split, you may want to replace the input shaft seals on the tranny. Don't ask me how I know...

The numbers shown with my shoes off are just under $3200.00

I apologize again for the $4K comment.

PS when you pull the injector pump, it is timed like a distributor. MARK THE PUMP AND THE BLOCK TO PROPERLY SET PUMP TIMING ON RE-ASSEMBLY.

Thanks. I don't need one now but down the road I might. I can see that it is a good idea to take care of the clutch, front end, and exhaust while you have it apart.

Hey, I just got an email from All States Ag Parts.

I browsed around their website a little. They sell new, refurb, and used stuff. Be sure and know what the warranty is before you pull the trigger. I have not had any bad experiences, but I need to be an informed consumer.

They showed Perkins 152 used take out as $2000 USD and $500 core.

The Re-man perkins here in my local area were going for around $5400.

It may be a cheaper route for a working tractor and much less time an headache.

PS ask them about shipping charges. I wouldn't want any surprises...
