    Default casting numbers - what can they tell me

    I have an hopefully easy question for you guy's;

    from the various engine casting numbers and other casting numbers on the tractor, how can i tell what massey 35 i own?

    -the tach has FE35 in it
    -it's a 3 cylinder diesel
    -engine block numbers are C37111289H
    -side of trans number 182 840 M2

    have to order some gaskets for her.

    The casting number is just that, a casting number from an iron foundry production plant. A tractor assembly plant could purchase that same casting from different foundry production plants and each has their own way of configuring a part numberm by date of pour, by type of metal, by heat treat etc.
