Default Gc2610 540rpm pto and tach

Why does my Gc2610 tach not match the 540 rpm? The tach is set up to match the Gc2410 rpm. I can't believe Massey would cheap out and not put in a different tach to match the 540 pto with the correct rpm. Do I have the wrong tach? Should it match?

Not really sure what you mean by "match". Care to elaborate?

I mean that at 2500 rpm it is marked for 540rpm at the rear pto. Mine being that it is a 2610 does not reach 540 rpm at the rear pto until 2800 rpm. Should the 2610 have a diff tach so the 540 mark on the tach corresponds with the engine rpm of 2800.? Did Massey screw up and install the wrong tach on mY 2610?

[QUOTE=Wacky;2893963]Is this machine brand new? Do you have any pics?[/It is a 2010 gc2610 with 125 hrs purchased new. My tachs 540 spot is at 2500 rpm. My manual says the 540 rpm should be 2829 rpm. Why do they have the 540 spot on the tach at 2500 rpm. I hooked up a pto gen yesterday and this is how I discovered the 540 spot is at 2829 rpm. This is where I produced 60hz and 230 volts. Do all 2610 have the 2410 tach in them?

Mine is showing at about the 2829 mark, right where the green color starts on the tach. It is also a 2010 GC 2610. Don't know how yours can be a 2610 with a 2410 part on it?

I am sure that when your engine is running at 2500 - then you are at the rated engine speed for the rear pto to be spinning at 540 rpms.If you don't believe me - hook up a rear pto tiller and engage at 1200 rpms and note the speed of tines spinning. increase engine speed to 2500 -- it will appear to be running at normal speed at or near 540 rear pto speed.

The reason is that you may also have a MMM pto and the SAME engine speed will make the mid mount pto run at the rated speed as well.

I think he is talking about the gauge itself. They make 2 different gauge clusters for the 2600's and 2400's. He is stating that the gauge cluster he has on the 2610 is really supposed to be on the 2410. They have 2 different engine hp and gear setups.

What you are saying is that your 540 mark on the tach is a at the 2829 mark? Mine is definately marked 540 at the 2500 rpm mark. Yes i do have a Gc2610 it is clearly marked all over it. I purchased it from the dealer and have the invoice stating it. Like I said earlier the pto gen will hit 60 hz at the 2800 mark on the tach. I must have a 2610 with a 2410 tach. I think I need to call the dealer.

Does the "green" section on the tach start at the 2500 rpm mark? If so, than it is the 2400 tach.
