What do you mean "turn on the differential"? Do you mean the differential lock?
Your tractor certainly has a differential as part of the driveline that provides power to the rear wheels. It is always connected and doesn't need to be "turned on". To improve traction in muddy situations, many tractors have a "differential lock" that's actuated usually via a foot padal. It locks the diferential so it can't "differentiate".
Sorry for my poor terminology. I have been in some deep mud before and noticed that there are times when only one wheel is moving.
Do I just use brake pedals to lock axle?
Use the pedal at the back of your right foot platform. That is the diff lock.
My 230 doesn't have a differential lock, don't know if it was even available.

Try stepping on the brake of the spinning tire
