GC2400-1700 Series Tractors and 12" Auger Size

I am going to buy the TSC store 3PH Post Hole Digger for a bunch of fence posts I need. My MF dealership said the GC series tractors cant handle a 12" auger-the 9" and under is okay but not the 12". Have you tried this combination on the GC tractors yet?

I haven't, but Woods Woods Equipment Co. Subcompact Tractor Attachments claims that theirs will dig a 12" hole on a subcompact, but an extension is needed to get below the frost line.

I'm skeptical myself, let us know if it can be done.

It really doesn't take much HP to run a PHD. Perhaps your dealer thinks the 12' auger is too much overload for the PTO drive on the GC2400-1700.

Mine handled it just fine.I did have to make extensions to get enough lift to clear the ground.

I only have a 12" auger for my post hole digger. I run it at an idle and it does fine. It sounds like hog wash to me.

Thanks everyone-I figured it was hogwash-should be getting the post hole digger with the 12" auger soon.
