Early 90s MF240 power steering

I have a 240 with the hydraulic dual cylinder "orchard" steering system. I need to change the fluid. I have read many post that suggest ATF (automatic transmission fluid)....

Do I need to use ATF or automotive power steering fluid?

Thanks in advance for the advice and helping a noob.

Do you have a manual for the tractor? I have a 245 manual, but not a 240.

TomSeller, What does your 245 call for?

Does anyone else have any thought on what fluid to use?

Re: Early 90s MF240 powers steering fluid.

I found another post on another site that says to use PermatranIII. The same stuff that is the transmission.

An alternative with the same specs can be found at my local tractor store.
