GC231 dipper lever won't center - YouTube

The dipper level won't center when moving one direction (it centers back from the other direction) ... Also when moving in the bad direction, it moves past the range where it activates the dipper to the point where it stops moving the dipper. Make sense?

Valve assembly here:
AGCO Parts Books (SL158419)

Where do I start fixing this thing? Thanks!

Never had to rip one apart yet. A lot of GC backhoe owners on this site.

My guess is, there are internal springs that center it.

And, one is broken?

I wouldn't take the vale apart without a diagram. There may be things like small check balls, and springs, that like to escape.

Sure does sound like there's something loose in there- mine makes no "clicking" noises like yours at all. I have also never had to take mine apart. Let us know what you find!

Just a thought, crazy-- are those ball & socket linkages worn out, maybe allowing too much play/sloppiness?

Turns out it was the "positioner" ... Tried to fix the part myself, but no go. Took 4 months to get it from jacks as it was on factory back order.

Easy fix though; its external to the valve.
