I'm about to purchase a used circa 1962 M-F 50 diesel with 3972 hours on it. It seems to run okay with the exception of running it up to about 2200+ rpm's; then it starts missing like a gasoline engine with worn-out spark plugs. There's no smoke or unusual sounds...just cutting in and out. Admittedly, it needs a new fuel filter, but it concerns me about the "missing" at operating speeds.
Any advice from you good folks?
Also, anything else I should be aware-of should I purchase this machine?
Thanks in advance...Chuck
