Default Mower adjustment on CG2300

I am wondering if some of you have had trouble getting the mower adjusted on your CG2300. The instructions on the mmm60" are meager at best, When I sit the mower on a flat surface and adjust the mower to be flat then the adjustment seems to be off according to the instructions. In the raised position there is at least a 1/2 " or more diff side to side. I asked the dealer but I think he is also having some problem getting this right. So I thought I would see what everyone here was doing and maybe fall into line with ya'll. Any suggestion are greatly appreciated

I experienced the same problem last year when I bought mine. I use the dial on the floor board to adjust the mowing height and set the wheels on the deck to be about 1/2" off of the ground when the deck is lowered. I too noticed that the deck was not level when it was lowered. I wrote a post last July 2003 telling how I ended adjusting the deck. In a nut shell, I adjusted the linkage on the one side of the deck so that the deck was level when it was lowered. This causes the deck to be unlevel when it is raised, but that's no big deal. I hope this helps. Let me know if it doesn't. Search for my post from July 2003 titled Mower height adjustment (I think?).

I know there's not a whole lot of us here with the GC2300. I noticed the deck on mine was not level in the raised position shortly after I took delivery of it last summer. However, the cut from the mower seems to be pretty darn good. (Though I appreciate a nice-looking yard, I'm not too nit-picky about getting it exactly level. What the heck--that's why I live in the country!)

Ran the GC2300 with the belly mower last night for the first time. I didn't use the height adjustment but used the wheels instead. I didn't realize the rear wheels were not casters that turned with the mower. They do a nice job of tearing up the yard on the sharp turns.

Guess I will use the height adjust from now on.

That's what I get for being in too much of a hurry to read the mower manual (exept for the assembly portions)
