Starter Relay
MF 231 won't start with key. Safety switches OK. I want to check the relay, but not sure where it is. There is a box on the back side of the dash under the RPM gage and just to the right of the light switch with three wires running to it; green, red, and black. Is this the relay? Any way to check it? Thanks.

Re: Starter Relay
The relay is usually located on the starter. It moves the gear on the starter in to engage the ring gear and also closes the contactor to allow current to the starter motor. Commen way to check it out is to provide a jumper wire with power to the relay terminal to see if there was something wrong with starter switch or wiring. Next if still no result then jump from batery to main terminal on the starter. If the starter turns then you have a bad relay.
