I will be buying a B21 but I don't know what would be the best choice or why but here is the choice. Buy the B21 with standard bucket, then buy a bolt on edge to plotect the edge and a bolt on tooth bar -or- pay the extra $300. for a HD round back bucket a bolt on cutting edge and a bolt on tooth bar. I am just going to get a standard bucket if there is no benifit in getting the heavy duty bucket. The dealer said the heavy duty bucket is setup for a bolt on cutting edge and the edge doesn't come with it it is extra $ for the edge.

Chad,
I went with the standard bucket. Heavy duty in this instance doesn't mean the bucket is heavy duty i.e. thicker metal ect. Both buckets weigh the same 212 pounds, both buckets have the same capacity 6.4 cu ft (struck). The round back bucket is probably stronger due to stress concentration at the corners of the square bucket , I didn't see that as a factor in a small tractor. If you plan on doing a lot of loading from a hard surface concrete/asphalt the replaceable blade would probably be worth considering. I was not aware of a bolt on edge or bolt on teeth for the square bucket. If I wear out the edge on my bucket, I can fix that with a stick (welder)/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.

Carver told me they sell the bolt on edge to protect the original edge for $195. and they sell a bolt on tooth bar (holes have to be drilled on the bucket for either of these to bolt on) for the standard bucket on the B21. I think I will do fine with the standard bucket then and will buy the tooth bar because that should help biting into compact ground from what I've read. I hope the B21 lasts me many years and I plan to take good care of it.

Chad,

I have the standard bucket, on my B21, and after several hundred hours in my rocky ground have had no problems. I also have a tooth bar and would not be without one. The tooth bar does a great job of anchoring the tractor while doing backhoe work.

Great little TLB, good luck with your buy.
