YM1700 Clutch adjustment after splitting

U P D A T E Before I could try the suggestion, my friends did some brute force things trying to make an adjustment and things went bad. They re-split the 1700 and found that they had broke a tooth on the yoke. Before I buy another one from Aron, am I missing...

Re Easy Clutch Fix...Adult Beverages on Me!

I'm bumping this to a new post because so many of you helped and I want to thank you. The brake stomping didn't do anything except make my bride mad at me for digging holes in the ground...BUT...the mower trick worked! I hooked it up to the finish mower and engaged the PTO and voila...

    YM1700...Clutch??? Something broke

1700 running fine. Went into house for a few minutes (left her running). Came back and pushed in clutch but gears grind ...cannot get it in gear. Adjusted linkage to make a little longer...but didn't over do it. Suggestions? I'm incompetent on mechanical stuff but have buddies here who are...

    Am I the Only One

that cannot push diddly with a 1700 and a box blade ? I can pull the blade up a storm put if I try to push dust, the wheels start spinning. I know, the tread direction favors pulling, but I mean, I can't push anything! Any hints?

PTO (and 3 point) Hookup Hints?

Are there lessons learned out there on hooking up to the PTO ? After much cussing etc. finally got the finish mower hooked up to the PTO but there has to be an easier way. For instance, I think it is easier to hook up the 3pt to a box blade or other heavy implement if it was set on a raised...

    YM1700 Smoking solenoid wire

Some may remember that I've had starting problems. New starter (and I think new solenoid). Sometimes fires right up; other times nothing until you turn the key repeatedly and then cranks great. Sure it's not a battery or battery connection issue. Many of you suggested ignition switch...I...

    Soundguy: Front end weight pix?

Soundguy...you have a pix of the front weight you fabricated? The 1700 doing great but she can get a little goosey with a scoop full of dirt. Tnx! Steve

    YM 1700 Starting

Sometimes the 1700 just clicks when you turn the key. Keep turning the key and eventually it will start cranking and it cranks strong and fires right up. It is a new (not rebuilt) starter; new, honker of a battery that is fully charged; tight and clean battery cable connections on both ends...

A Yanmar 1700 Testimonial (and to this site)

A testimonial to the Yanmar 1700 and this site. Was driving by a local, old style, hardware store and there were tractors. Since my Ford N series drowned during Hurricane Isabel, I was in the market. Had never heard of compact, grey market tractors, but, ****, the price sure was good for a...

    Paint for YM1700

Has anyone found rattle can (or brush) paint for the YM1700? Mine is the red, cream, and pale green version. Live on the coast and want to stay ahead of rust if I can. Thanks! Steve

    YM-1700 Starting hints

The fellow I'm buying the YM1700 from doesn't know much about Yanmars and doesn't have the book. He replaced the starter but is still having truble getting it started. He said it doesn't use glo plugs so is wondering if there is some trick? He say's there is a small container about 2x2" with a...

    YM 1700?

New guy here, both to the forum and this category of tractors. (My Ford N Series drowned during Isabel so I'm an "N" guy in search of a tractor). A local store is selling a Yanmar Ym1700; an Iseki TS1610 or a Hinomoto E182 for around $2900. They look like new! But beauty is only skin deep so...
