Grading an uneven field for haying with 50 HP?

I've got a 10 acre pasture that has never been worked. It needs to be level enough to hay- it was hayed once and that farmer didn't come back as it was hard on his equipment. It also will be rotationally grazed. Overall it is flatland, but quite uneven/bumpy as you drive across it. When the...

Salesman said to only to use 4wd....

As I was pulling out with my new 5100 the salesman said I should keep in in 2wd unless needed "like you would a car". I didn't question that, until I nearly got stuck within the first 3 minutes of operating my brand new tractor. (Ag tires, VERY muddy property at times). I've just kept it in 4wd...

    Security & Theft  Theft deterrents?

At the moment I don't have a locking shed for my new tractor. This isn't a crime ridden area but I do like to be safe- any suggestions? How about a "club" for a car? Any other ideas? Thanks.

    Front-End Loader  FEL bucket longevity?

Great forum here BTW! My tractor (Kubota MX5100, 50HP) is brand new, will be used for many purposes but the bucket will particularly get used the hardest while picking up (scraping)topsoil and bark mulch from piles off of concrete/asphalt, as well as picking up small boulders for placement...

800 LB round bales with pallet forks- how?

I just had my first experience trying to lift 2 round bales, separately. Please understand I now have a whopping 3 hours on the tractor (Kubota 50 HP) I tried spearing them in all spots imaginable but the forks wouldn't poke through, just pushed the bales along the ground, or rolled em. Hay was...

Tires  Turf tires on the L4400/MX5100

My new tractor (one of the above, as of yet undecided, buy bought early this week!), will require turf tires for some commercial landscaping work once per year. It sounds like there are a handful of different turf tires, the salesman will tell me all about them when I get back to the dealer...

    L4400 vs MX5100 for landscaping... 2 questions

As mentioned in my other thread regarding round bales- I am 2 days away from putting money down on a new tractor. I'll be getting a gear, 4WD with ag tires. The main job for this tractor is farm usage, but will have 'some' landscaping work and that is truly what will be paying for it so it needs...

    L4400/MX5100, moving round bales?

I'm 2 days from putting money down on my first new tractor. I'm still caught up on the L4400 vs MX5100, (5100 is on backorder while 4400 is on a good discount being a 2007 model)... With either, and I do gather the L4400 can only go up to 800LB bales, but what attachment is best for round bale...
