set you meter to the lowest voltage setting above 12
use a jumper to connect the negative...
I thinking you fixed the problem by repairing the 2 stripped wires. looking at previous diagrams posted the brown wire ran from the flasher to the switch which would have voltage on it. with it and the black (ground) wire being stripped that is where it was passing the excess current.
then I did misunderstand your reading of the right side of the fuse holder. I would think the the meter would read 0.00 when turned to 200 ohm and leads not touching anything. I have not used many different types of meters so it could be an I for infinite just never saw a meter read like that...

that looks like a '65 or '66 Galaxie behind your son. I have a '67 Galaxie convertible that my father had since the mid 80's. still original and looks great. I got it after he passed in '05
I bought a Ford LGT16D a couple months ago and have now found out that the deck gearbox is dry. It must have a seal at the bottom of gearbox. Has anyone ever had the gearbox on the 48"deck apart? I will have to replace the bearing and seal. I haven"t taken it apart yet. Looking for any advise...
housing pic is a little blurry but each pic I took was blurry . I can see the barrel housing circulars in the housing casting and neither of them look damaged It looks like there is no damage to the housing. I had it filled good with aero-kroil and did not have to tap very hard for the barrels...
