I called several local shops to verify the price on a transmission fluid change. Apparently things have changed a lot in the past several years. No one wants to drop the pan and change the fluid the old fashioned way. All they want to do is suction out the fluid and replace it. 14 old qts out...
In about 2 weeks from now I have the need to back a fully loaded 16' trailer down a 80' long hill with my 4WD JD 790. The fully loaded trailer will weigh about 5-6,000# and the hill has crusher run on it and is about a 15 degree slope. Speed will be under 5MPH at all times. The trailer will...
I looked at it tonight for the first time. It seems as though it is primarily a site for internet dealers selling new items. I didn't see a lot of private sales. Have you ever used it? If you are buying a commonly available new gun, wouldn't it be just as easy to buy from a local dealer and...
There are lots of Gator owners who don't mind spending money for accessorizing their Gator after spending the initial $8-12,000. Do JD dealers have a "secret" catalog that has all the available accessories listed in one place? It seems like a marketing blunder by JD to not publish and distribute...
I finally found a knowledgeable source for sickle parts. It's not like your average 25 year old at TSC, Agri-supply, etc even know what a sickle mower is. The parts guy at my JD dealer knows about them, but parts from JD are very limited for 40 year old mowers.
I hope this helps some of you...
I would like some input on what size rear blade to get for my 790 to maintain a 1.5 mile long mountain gravel road that is in decent shape. I looked at the Kingcutter model that offsets. The same two bolts when loosened adjust the offset and tilt. I worry about them loosening on their own. The...
I saw a leaf baler yesterday in action. It was picking up leaves on a large lawn and baling them into 6' long bales about 2'x2' on the ends. I recently spent the last 20 years in south Florida, so this was a new sight for me. Are leaf balers common?? It said Ford 532 on the side. There was a...
I ordered 1325 SF of floor tile last weekend. It is a 1/4" solid body color porcelain tile that imitates slate. 18"x18" tiles that are blueish gray, irregular top surface and top edges that are almost 90 degrees. I want to lay it with a minimal grout line (1/16")to imitate a real slate...
One of my buddies is encouraging me to buy an AR-15 or clone. He tells me that a basic model will be $600-800, something nicer will be $800-1000 and that anything over $1000 is match grade and I don't need it. (plus lights and other stuf to mount on the rails)
Today at the grocery store...
I went to TSC yestersay and picked up a female 21 spline to male 6 spline adapter. Before I drove the 35 miles, I checked the TSC catalog and saw two choices. A 20 spline 1 3/4" version and a 21 spline 1 3/8" version. I eyeballed the shaft and figured 1 3/8". I called and they had it in stock...
This is way beyond what most TBN members have, but may be of interst to some.
New John Deere Tractors, Combines and Other Farming Equipment Unveiled for 2008
I found this on e-bay this afternoon. The seller has two models. One is a single bar and the deluxe one has a lower shorter bar. This may be a good welding project.

While you guys are reading, I will be throwing up. This is not illegal, but needless to say not a great idea. The thought of some punk spending $33 so he can...
Does anyone sell a CAT 1 hydraulic top link for a compact JD tractor that has a small valve and handle attached to the top link itself? I want an open center type so that it can be hooked into my JD Power Beyond ports. I do not want to install extra divertors or another valve station. I would...
