New to owning a Tractor (Satoh S650G)

My father and I just purchased a Satoh S650G Tractor. It needs some work, but nothing we can't handle. I have a couple questions.

1)Where can I find parts for this model
2)I fired it up the other night, and after it got good and warm the exhaust leading up to the muffler was cherry red, is this normal, if not, what would cause that?

Good bet that ignition timeing is off, and cherry red is NOT normal.

Had that on a car once that was just 'tuned up'.
Timing was done at idle with timing light but the mechanical fly weights that controlled the mechanism were rusted and jammed. Got so hot that the manifold melted and compartement caught fire.

SO-- your comments do suggest that the mechanical weights that regulate the hi speed advance mechanism might just be corroded and sticking.
Should not be difficult to clean up with a wire brush dremmel approach and a bit of lube.

As to parts, manuals etc, there are a couple of guys on this board that do a good job in supplying our needs and generally respond to specific parts requests.
They also offer copies of parts manuals.
