Hello and thanks for reading. I'm a few months into owning my first tractor and find myself begging for help as I'm running out of options. Here's the skinny...
I've got a 3850FD that is stuck and will not move in any gear. PTO and all hydraulics work fine. The problem started a few months ago and the more we began to use the glow plug warmer the worse the issue would become. Basically, the tractor will run fine but suddenly you won't be able to move it. You can row the gears without depressing the clutch. The first time it happened I figured clutch issues but it continues...
We have had a loose ignition cylinder since purchasing the tractor. After using the glow plug warmer more in recent months we've noticed the "lack of movement" issue becomes more frequent. Sometimes, however, after tightening the cylinder, or holding it while turning the key, the tractor would work as normal. The problem was very intermittent. But now it's stuck. The same thing happens when you're driving the unit and you bump the key from the "on" to "off" position. Without pulling the kill switch you still have power, just no transmission. Turn the key back to the right and all is well...at least it used to be.
Following my incorrect diagnosis I just replaced the ignition cylinder. It was zero help. Tractor is still stuck in the field. I can't for the life of me find a service manual or a mobile mechanic to come service it.
Any advice would be VERY much appreciated!
