Default 5740C PTO spee selector??

Hello all, I have a 5740C and the operation manual indicates it should have a three speed PTO, but I do not see any selector on the tractor

Is this just a misprint?

Thank you

I don't have a book in front of me but I'll take a stab at it. The books tend to cover every option available and this may be an option that LS has, but your tractor doesn't. Not much different that the dashes on some of these that have a half a dozen indicators that aren't used. The R series gear drives use the same dash as the HSTs, so you have a cruise light on the gear drive dash that isn't used.

Every LS tractor in the US,as far as I know has a single speed 540 PTO.

Thanks Ken,

Thats what I thought, I was looking for a way to save some fuel while mowing since the 8 foot cutter doesn't seem to place a load on this tractor. The second gear described at 750rpm which would have been just the ticket

Thanks again
Randy

NetworkMD:

I have a 4940C which is virtually the same as your 5740C just a little lower hp.
I do have the three speed PTO option on mine. The level is located on the left side of the seat and a little back. It is clearly marked as PTO and has positions of 3, 2, N, 1 marked on the top.
I consider myself very lucky to have it as I do a lot with it from bush hog, post hole digging and mowing with a 8 foot threader.
Hope this helps clear things up.

Glenn.
