Sounds like you have an industrial 2000. The reverser trans was factory supplied, and I have never seen one, only saw them in the parts books/repair manuals. That would make me think in my area that tractor would be rare.

The orange paint is usually put on by a highway dept. or other municipality. I don't know if Ford would have painted it that color. In the 80's, Ford would paint the US built tractors any color that was in the truck catalogs, for an additional fee. I don't know if they did it in '62.

I'm pretty sure the color would have been a light, almost beige, yellow sheet metal, and blue engine, trans, rear axle.

Here are some pictures of it. I call it orange but it's the belly is the same color as a jubilee or 600 series. The hood is a whitish yellowish color. It runs excellent, been rebuilt with a new injector pump just needs injectors.

I think those are the correct colors. Looks like a Ford loader, too. Great find, best of luck with it.

Buff and Red were the industrial colors. Sounds like maybe it has the forklift reverser? Post this in the Vintage Ford section and I bet soundguy has an answer for you.

Thanks for the input guys, I've talked to several so called early ford specialists and they kinda act as if I don't know what I'm talking about. It is pretty neat, power steering and a shuttle shift on a 1962 model. Does anyone know where I could find out how many were made?

as rick mentioned there was a later reverser trans for the 3 cyl.. but some people are unaware of the aux pre trannies that were available for fords.

Detailed production records do not exist, and many auxiliary transmissions were dealer-installed. No way to tell how many are out there.

Maybe 3 months ago in Hattiesburg MS C/L there was a 63 4000 industrial loader with a shuttle shift in it, just like yours. Kinda a pale yellow and white.

HI HIhaymaker. I think i have the same machine. Loader and all! I cant tell exactly because the place where the model and serial number where, has been eroded away by the battery leaking over the years. but its the same transmission set up and the sheet metal, grill and color, look real close. I have mine split rite now because the Sherman shuttle trans has fallen apart in side! I have a parts trans and am hoping I can salvage the part I need because there hard to find.

I would be interested in the model number and serial number on your machine. maybe I can make since of mine if I had something to compare it to.

good luck, it is a rare breed, I'm not sure the decals that are on yours are the rite ones. The look like the post 64 decals. I don't think the pre 64 thousand models decals are available. the resemble the 871 and 900 decals.
