value of 1981 ford 3600 diesel

Ive found a 1981 3600 ford diesel has the hydraulics on it, good tires,the paint isn't show ready, its faded and needs a can or two of spray paint on it so some spots want rust but I'm going to use it not show it ,so I guess I would say fair to good, Its seems to run good I drove it, I don't know much about tractors but it seems sound to me, Its also a 8 speed f 2 rev, its got 1990 hrs on it , lights and gauges work the price is $5000.00, Is that a good price, and will this tractor give me many years of good service, I only have a small farm, so no real heavy work ,just bush hogging plowing a small garden, moving round bales of hay to animals etc.. thanks for your help

The 3600 is a SLIGHTLY upgraded version of the 3000. (I've owned a couple 3000's) They're great little tractors. Hydraulics are somewhat slow cycling compared to 2009 standards, but more than adaquate for MOST end users.

$5000 for a NICE 3600 is a good buy. Not a steal, but very fair. I've seen 'em sell in the $6000 to $6500 range in condition simular to what you've described. That is a relatively low houred machine. If I was needing one, I'd be all over that one!

3000's go for about 4500-5000 in my area.. you have to look around hard to buy them cheaper.. that or fix-em-up.
