Price Check Price on NH/Ford 1715

I am looking at a Ford 1715 4WD, 9x3 transmission, Ford 7108 quick attach loader w/60" bucket, single lever control, P/S, weighted turf tires, with 400 hours, in excellent condition. Not sure on the year, I think it is a 1996. It comes with a 72" BEFCO 3 spindle grooming mower and single blade plow. They are asking $11,500, I was thinking more like $10,500.

How does the price sound?
Any issues with this tractor or the BEFCO mower?

This tractor will fit my needs, and I am ok with the manual transmission, although I have rented the Kubota L3010 with HST, WOW! And like most first time buyers I can wait 1-2 more years to get the money to buy the tractor I really want (TC40D), or buy used and smaller and start working right away. I am ready to put a tractor to work now.

Eric, I just purchased a 1979 Ford 1700, 4wd, manual steering, 2 cylinder 78 cubic inch diesel, with a loader (older style two lever control), 1400 hours on the clock, and a 5' bushhog, for $6500. I was looking at newer tractors, specifically the 3010. I bought this because it came along at the right time, and I could get working with it and have some more $$$ for other projects. I plan to upgrade in 3-4 years.

The one you are looking at has much more modern features (power steering, 3 cyl diesel, single lever FEL control, different front axle), and will probably not lose much value in a year or two. I'd follow the pricing trends, as has been suggested, and also temper that with local pricing in your area. I don't think you are too far away from a reasonable price, from what I've seen on the right-hand side of our continent. I spent a couple months of immersion research (had to be reintroduced to family members /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif), getting up to speed before I bought. I'd recommend that, although it sounds as if you might be there already. Another thing - you'll really know what you want after you have the "interim tractor" for a while.

I tried this link, and I assume it does not include a loader, tractor only. It list as $9,000 in excellent condition, which this tractor is, and I am sure a loader would run around $3,000, maybe more. So this is looking like a good deal. I also assume the finish cutter would run $1,000-$1,500.

It seems like a good deal. I have been in the research mode for close to a year now, and some of the best advice I found was to rent a tractor. I rented a Kubota L3010, and validated many things that I need versus want. I really liked the HST, but don't have to have it right now. The 30 horsepower was more than enough, the size was perfect, it went everywhere I needed to go, felt stable. I also was concerned about the R-4 industrial tires, but after a day of front end loader work in the rain, they worked great. So now I know what I want, just don't want to sit on the side lines for a couple of more years thinking about it. It seems like these tractors will hold there value fairly well, and this tractor looks like a good value. This tractor has 400 hours of mowing grass, and has been garaged. It can't get much better than that.

Mark, I will give it a try and see what happens. Even if this does not work out, it helps to establish more data points to help determine when good deal appears. I would prefer the 20 series, but I will see if I can get a great price on this one. The condition of this tractor certainly earns extra points.

Bought a 1710 4wd with two lever off brand QT loader syncro trans 1450 hours 4 new AG tires and slick new paint job for $8500 this spring.Had to work out a few kinks but I love the tractor. If I didn't by mine I would have bought yours,sounds like a good deal to me. Curious if this is from a dealer or private individual

I went and looked at it last weekend, it is for sale by a private party, and was not as good as advertised. I would say it was in good condition, not great. The thing that stuck with me was the wear on the tires. The clock had 400 hours, from mowing grass, there is no way the tires could have as much wear as they did. So he either has swaped with used tires or the clock was not accurate. He also did not want to move on his price. The finish cutter also had a fair amount of rust, not sure how much life is left in that.
His price is just under $12,000, and I saw a brand new TC30 with 7308 loader, R-4's and 9x3 gears for just over $14,000. Brand new with a warranty is worth the extra dollars to me. I will keep looking, I'm sure I will find something in the $9,000 - $10,000 range that is in good condition.
