As a matter of fact, in the back of my ford 951 rotary cutter book, it lists torque ratings for grade 2, 5, and 8 1/4 inch thru 1-1/8 in foot pounds, and newton meters.

I'll list them across as follows:
size grade 2 fp nm grade 5 fp nm gr8 fp nm
1/4 6 8 11 15 14 19
5/16 13 18 21 28 25 34
3/8 23 31 38 52 55 75
7/16 37 50 55 75 80 110
1/2 57 77 85 115 120 165
9/16 82 111 125 170 180 245
5/8 111 150 175 240 230 310
3/4 200 270 300 410 440 600
7/8 280 380 450 610 720 975
1 350 475 680 924 1035 1400
1-1/8 450 610 885 1200 not listed

hope that helps

<A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.kingkutter.com/downloads/kutter_manual.pdf>KingKutter Rotary Cutter Operator’s manual in PDF…</A>

The official word on blade bolt torque for KingKutter's rotary cutters... on page 6 of KingKutter's paper manual, item E states:

After running one or two full days, check the Stump Jumper or Blade Carrier to make sure it is securely fastened to the output shaft of the gear box. If loose, tighten nut to 200 FT-Lbs. torque (equal to 200 lbs of weight on a wrench with a 12" handle). Make periodic checks of the BLADE BOLTS for tightness. If loose, tighten to 310 FT.-Lbs.

They have the 60/80 hp gearbox units in the same manual, but don't distinguish between standard duty or heavy duty differences... (they use larger diameter blade bolts on the heavy duty units)

Thanks to both of you - it looks like both sources tend toward agreement. I looked around for KingCutter websites - not too hard (dogpile search). Guess I just shoulda typed in DubDubDubDotkingcutterdotcom, huh? /w3tcompact/icons/clever.gif Guess who feels like a DubDubDub, now? /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif Thanks for the info, and the CLUE to the hard to find /w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif website, too.

Ok guys, check this out. Here is some pictures of someones 1700 motor apart (thanks to whoever posted those). You can see where the pump bolts on from the backside of the timing cover. Dont see a good way to get oil in the through the front of the pump. Just an observation... TB
