I've been looking for a newer tractor for some time now. I have an 860, 841 and a 960 that I use for a small beef operation and snow removal.

What is the better machine, something like a 3930 - 4630 or the newer TN60?

From what I could find, the TN is going to cost a little more, being that it is newer. However, I am not convinced that newer is necessarily better.

My vote would be for the 3930 or 4630, probably lean toward the 4630.

3930 was still a ford built tractor and the tn 60 is a fiat heston style tractor which in my opinion is worth anything. i would take the 3930 over any tn tractor

At one point I was leaning towards the TN...thinking since it is newer parts would be more available. Then I realized that NH no longer makes the TN. I'm not crazy about the lack of transmission options on the TT series.

Why the 4630 over the 3930? The only difference I could find is a little more horsepower on the 4630...I'm guessing this is due to a turbo.

Go for the 3930-4630. They're tough machines.

The 3930 is 45 PTO HP, the 4630 is 55. The 3930 and the 4630 were both turbo'd in the later model years, primarily due to emissions regulations. Both were built with 192 and 201 cid engines during their model runs, with the 192 cid engine being turbo'd in the 4630 and then in the 3930 near the end of it's run. I'd go with the 4630 for the power advantage as well as it being offered with up to 16.9 x 30 inch rear tires while the 3930 was maxed out with 14.9 x 28's. The 4630 would be better for baling hay in my opinion.

u can put 30 in rubber on the 3930 because the 3930 and 4630 is the same drive train just a different number as of horse power. i have seen them with as little as 24's and up to 30's on both models but for baling hay u are way better of with a 4830 or 5030

Are you talking about round baling? Do those take a lot of HP? I just square bale which could change but even my 860 and 960 do just fine. Probably my most demanding implement is a 7' snow blower.
