Does the Box Blade (Massey 72") add any value to the tractor?

If so, how much? $500?

when i see an implement listed, if it is in good condition, I value it at about half of new. If it is actually brand new.. 75-90% of new. If less than good.. .. more like fair.. 30-40% of new.. if if only 'serviceable/useable'.. 25%

those are prices for an implement alone. if packaged with a tractor.. you usually get about 10% less.. so adding a good blade to a tractor might add 40% of the cost of a new blade.

David, I have two boxblades. One is a 5' blade and the other is a 5-1/2' blade. The 5' with all scarifiers was $250 used and the 5-1/2' blade was $200 included with a tractor purchase. Both blades have hinged rear cutting blades. Considering that your neighbor's boxblade is missing a scarifier, does not have a hinged rear blade, and is not "prettied up" with a new paint job, I'm thinking $200 to $250 is an acceptable price that a savvy tractor buyer would be willing to pay. If your neighbor puts a premium price on the tractor, then the boxblade thrown into the deal for free would make a good bargaining move at the time of final negotiation.

EDIT: Looking at the photos, I may have the boxblade confused with another one. This one seems to have all scarifiers, but the pricing would still be the same.

them teeth are expensive.

I bought an old oxen 5' box a long while back. no flip blade and no teeth.. I only gave 100$ for it.

slowly collected teeth for it as I found them cheap. new set of teeth can be more than a cheap box !!
