Looking to add a 2nd tractor for light 3pt duty and light chores. Anyone have one of these models and can offer opinions?

Does the 4000 model have independent PTO and/or diff lock?

What's the gain between 00 and 10 models?

Thanks in advance!!

All will have IPTO and probably have difflock. 4600 and 4610 will have more hydraulic flow than a 4000 along with external spin on filtration. 4610 may have optional dual hydraulic pumps for combined 16 or so GPM at the closed center remote valves. 4610 will have hydraulic oil cooler, 4600 not sure, 4000 won't. 4000D will have oil bath air cleaner, rest will have dry element. 4000 will have a generator, the rest will have alternators. All info pertains to SU and All Purpose models.

Oh, I should have also clarified, diesel only.

I believe the independent PTO issue is tractor specific in the 4000 model, that's why I asked. It has "live" PTO, but that's not the same as "independent. Trying to avoid the dual clutch setup. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks for the response.

Every 3 cylinder Ford 4000AP or 4000SU I have ever seen has had IPTO. No two stage clutches. One exception would be a 4110LCG which would have 'live' PTO, but shouldn't be confused with a 4000AP or 4000SU.

Cool, thanks for clearing that up. For some reason I thought it was optional or maybe not even offered in the 4000. Not sure where I got that.

Maybe cause I started researching 3000 and 3600s?

Liked their chassis size but am concerned about being a little underpowered. That's what led me to start looking at the 4 series SU models. Friend of mine has a 4000SU that he finish mows with. Just can't him to sell it to me.... :)

The later tractors like 4610 SU will also have adjustable stabilizer bars which are very nice.

I saw a pic of one on Tractorhouse with those. Already decided if I buy an earlier model I'll build a pair. I can't go back to chains and/or pin-on stabilizers..... :(

I know there aren't a large number of Ford owners on TBN, but I'm really surprised at least one owner hasn't joined this discussion. Makes me wonder how hard it's gonna be to find one of these tractors. I see very few on Tractorhouse or Fastline. And so far, the ones I see are a long ways from me.

They are hard to find because anyone who has one is very reluctant to part with it! I don't have an SU but our 4610 was our "heavy lifter" on the ranch until we bought the NH TD95D. I put a EZEE ON 2070 loader on it 12 years ago and it's been a great ranch machine for us. The 4610 still does a lot of the utility work and the NH does the feed work and hay handling

Thank you very much for posting. I suspect you are correct. Hard to find because of their durability, longevity and practicality.
