Tractor
Ford 7710 II FWA, NH TB110 FWA w/ NH 46LB loader, JD 5303 2wd w/ loader
I found this 1996 New a Holland 3930 4WD with 850 hours on it. It has Shuttle Shift. It is somewhat local (3hrs away). Is this tractor worth $14,000?

Not to me it wouldn't be, unless it had a loader. Add a loader and you're talking $18-19k.

Sounds high. Now it's been a few years, but that was about the cash price I was quoted on a brand new LS G3033 4WD/ shuttle/ remotes and loader. A 3038 was like $600 more, if memory serves.

That tractor will sell for the asking price, or close to it.

Comparing any 1990's utility tractor from a major manufacturer to today's CUT with equal horsepower is comparing apples to chokecherries. A sector of the tractor buying public realizes that NOBODY builds a tractor as rugged as these old Fords (and others) and will pay a premium for low hour survivors like this.

What is the "shuttle shift" feature about? Where does it shine?

Also, can the exhaust be routed out the back and keep things neat and tidy?

The tractor has an 8x8 mechanical shuttle, clutching is required to make speed or direction changes. Horizontal exhaust is available. This cleans up your line of sight, bakes your left foot and leg, and poisons you when attaching implements with the tractor running. Exhaust from horizontal exhaust systems typically stinks more due to longer pipes and cooler gas exit temps in addtion to being discharged at a low level.

The weight difference alone shows the mass difference of a true utility tractor- the Ford weighs 5400+ lbs. before adding a loader...

Even if you multiply the LS3038 base weight By 2 2690lbs. x 2 = 5380lbs. still less than the Fords 5446 lbs. weight before adding a loader.

Not really comparable

Even at that price- i doubt that 3930 will be for sale for long.

It's a 52 HP tractor with good weight so it should pull really well. Since it appears to be in decent shape it's worth a look and a negotiation over the price. If nothing else it's worth a nice leisurely drive to Granbury, some good eating places there.

As far as horizontal exhaust I agree with RickB. You have to change out the exhaust manifold, pipes, muffler, etc. You can look at the parts diagram on Messicks website and see what's involved. To me the cost and negatives out way the clean look.

Recently a 2 WD non shuttle 3910 here with 1K 1 owner hours had a posted asking price of $10,900. Stayed on Craigslist couple weeks. I figure it brought 10k. This is more tractor, later model, 4 WD, and shuttle. The asking price is reasonable.

The price of the OP's prospective tractor is at the bottom price range of TractorHouse's listings. I am surprised at the high asking price of used tractors. I paid $13,000 for my TC40DA with 300 hours in 2008. It now has 650 hours. TractorHouse has them with 700 hours starting at $20,000. Of course that is asking, not selling, price but still that's way more than I paid for mine. I would contribute used tractors being that much more valuable to the high cost of new tractors and Tier 4 but that would just be a guess on my part.
