Guys,

I see the new 70 series has a smaller engine, more emissions stuff "tier 4" and is over 1000lbs lighter? How and where did they remove so much weight? With all these negatives I'm no longer considering them and am very disappointed in NH. May look at a used one like a 65 or 75 if I can find one local. Thoughts?

If you are gonna do any loader work don't think I would want a 65 or 75. They don't have a shuttle option. The 45 and 55 does. I believe that 3rd and 4th is synchronized on the 65 and 75. The Tier 4B Final 50, 60, and 70 all have synchronized mechanical shuttles with synchronized shifting from 1st through 4th. Shifting from low to high still requires a complete stop.

The major difference is in the engine. The 65 and 75 has a 4 cylinder 195 cubic inch engine where as the 50, 60, and 70 all incorporate the 135 cubic inch engine. The weight difference according to New Holland is 5059# vs 5688# in 4WD version. How accurate that is I have no idea. My owners manual states an operating weight of over 6000# for the 50. I know that with loaded rears and FEL I'm heavy enough to do some damage.

The other differences are an extra gallon gas capacity in the 70 and a little more lift at the rear. The total hydraulic flow is listed a little less for the 70 at 17.2 GPM versus 18.7.

So far I have 55 plus hours on my 50 and no issues. If you prefer the 75 that is what I would get. I really like the 621 TL FEL on my 50. It is really a strong FEL.

Great info thank you. So yes I need the shuttle and didn't realize the 65 and 75 didn't have it so they are out now. Guess I will go drive a 60 or 70 to see what I think. Thank you for the detailed info.
