4500 remote hydraulics

I bought a 1974 4500 industrial. It has a loader , 3 pt. pto. No backhoe. I want to add remote hydraulics to operate equipment from the rear of the tractor. Things like a wagon hoist, wood splitter etc. How do I do this?

One way to do it is to install a selector valve onto your hyd top cover. there should be a plank plate about the size of an index card there right now, held down with 4 bolts... it is: C5NN475B COVER Cover Assy., Accessory, Replaces C5NN475A, Except 4200, Includes: Ref. 14 thru 18, Start Year: 01/01/1965

The selector plate diverts hyd pressure from the 3pt to it's port. from there you could plumb it to a couple Open center DA dalves that were setup with detents, and QD's, and then plumb a return line back to your hyd sump. many people remove the hyd sump cap, and drill/tap it for a fitting and use a low press hose for the return line from the valve to the tank sump/cap.

The fact that yours is an industrial slightly limits your options... The regular thousand and newer series IE X000 and X600 have options for mounting a single or dual DA valve right there on the cover, without any extra plumbing.. just run t he hoses back to the QD's and that's it.

Check your hyd top cover.. you may already have the selector valve there.. setting unused.

Hey Soundguy,

The help you give people is just unbelievable. However, given the length of that post, you must either be an amazing typer or have way too much time on your hands.

At least 90wpm or better... not up to real good 'secretary' status.. but not too bad either. If I stay at 90wpm or so.. I am pretty accurate. if I push it past that.. I get increasing #'s of typo's My 2 biggest typo errors are reversin oa in 'loader' and mis-spaced areas between any word followed by 'the'. Looks like this: 'pett he dog' vs 'pet the dog' For some reason those are the 2 most common occurences.. besides minor spelling errors which i really don't try to go back and correct as long as the meaning is easy to discern from context or it is at least close phonetically.. etc..

And keep in mind the blocks of partnumber data are copy/paste along with the parts/pics links that I gleaned from online sources.

Lastly.. the subject is 'ford' I probably couldn't have compiled that much info for any other 'color' of tractor in such a short time... I collect fords, and thus have more paper and online literature bookmarked for them / more hands on experience with fords than any other color. I do keep a token green, red, and orange tractor out in the barn though.. just to be fair

Holy cow. I have done quite a few searches for info and have found none. I bought an operators manual also, no info on this. This is my first ford tractor ('64 galaxie, 41 F2, '76 150 450hp 460, etc). Now a landslide of info from da man! I haven't had time to pursue it yet but will definitely get back to you when I do. If you have trouble tracking parts down, post back.. Besides generic places like ebay, and the blue dealerships.. i shop at alot of online ford parts dealers.. plus frequent a few boards where people might have salvage parts.. etc..
