Drove up to the dealer to bring her home. Spoke with the man who did the work, Thanks Buddy. It runs GREAT. I'd say it's better than new, thanks to the care he put into my machine. Fantastic. Can't wait to put it to work. Oh, he also made me a new counter weight. Kind of pricey, but seems to work well..

One interesting thing that Buddy told me... Of the 2 bolts on the top of the bell housing, one had broken off. The other, was just plain MISSING. Like, it was never there. Now, there's no way to see these bolts when the fuel tank is in it's normal position. So, I wonder when/if this bolt decided to part company, and if it was missing since day 1, someone at CNH is going to get an earful from me..

Glad it is home, and hopefully all will be a-ok. With recycling costs as high as they are; that counterweight may get you a few dollars for scrap.
Is there any special breakin procedure for the newly rebuilt engine?

I'll second the great sense of humor! You have a great attitude all things considered. When you think about it, the final price isn't bad at all, knowing the amount of work that was required. Even a $1K doesn't go far today when it involves major equipment/machine repairs. $2800 for a new lower end is a bargain! IMO

Love the new counter-weight. I have to tell you that when you first reported the "malfunction", I had that feeling that a guy gets when the Doctor mentions a prostrate examination...immediate, involuntary tightening of the sphinc#%*

I just wished they welded a couple of lower link pins and a bracket or something for the top link for you new "always reminding you" counter weight.
