I have a Ford 1920 that I am using/taking care of. It's a very nice tractor. However, I'm getting an implement with an hydraulic lift, and this tractor doesn't have an hydraulic system (as far as I can see). It was used by local county for road maintenance with mower on 3 pt hitch.
Can I install an hydraulic pupmp/system? If so, how is it done?
Are there any web sites/ kits?
Or is this something an implement dealer should do?
Thanks. Jim

if your talking about adding a loader, yes it can be done and yes they do have DIY. but unless your real handy with tools it's best left to the new holland dealer. when it's all done you have someone to blame for any problems that might arise.

Jim, your tractor already has a hydraulic system for lifting the 3-point hitch mower. That's the system that raises the lift arms in back. That is the same hydaulic pump/system that would be used for your "hydraulic implement." Please be more specific and tell us what type of hydraulic lift implement you are wanting to use.

Here's the deal. . . if you are wanting to put a FEL on the tractor, that's a huge purchase and will require a hydraulic diverter valve so that the hydraulics that now work the 3PH can also run the loader. However, if you want to have a hydraulic hookup in the rear of the tractor, that is called a "remote" hydraulic adapter. Those are normally a kit priced under $1000 to add this feature. Then you can hook the hoses from your implement to this remote hydraulic adapter and you can operate a lever near the operator's station to make your implement work. Another way of adding an additional hydraulic implement adapter is with a "power beyond" kit. That's the kind of kit that is normally used if you want to add a backhoe.

So, you can see why it is impossible to really tell you much without knowing more specifics. What I do know is that the 1920 has a very capable hydraulic pump already and there are standard ways to make that system do a lot of things for you. Give us more info and we'll try to give you some good advice.

How do you think that 3pt hitch raises? magic? it uses hyds!! :) :)

there should be a valve block on the right hand lower side of the tractor.. engine area.. this is where you can tap hyds from.. like for a loader.. or DIY valve.. however.. you can add a factory remote as well.

Hey Chris, I think you may be guilty of info overload.;):D

I'm hoping he will tell us what he wants and we can point him in the direction of a dealer who can do that for him after giving him a little "hydraulic primer" here in this thread. I love your details, but it may be a little much for him. We'll see.:)

Here is the simple version.
Your tractor has a pump, reservior, relief valve and diverter valve from the factory.
You can add a single spool rear remote valve to operate one function at the rear of the tractor. It comes with decent instructions, and can be installed with common hand tools and a reasonable amount of mechanical aptitude and common sense.
You can also add a mid mounted two spool valve with couplers to control a front or mid mounted implement with one or two hydraulic functions. The kit comes with instructions and can be installed using common hand tools and a reasonable amount of mechanical aptitude and common sense.

Or you can have either or both installed using only a checkbook. Nothing else required.

that's just a parts listing for the remote kit that cnh has, along with the exploded diagrram of it with coresponding numbers. i also tossed in a pic o fthe hyd pump.. so he knows he has one.. :)
