I am trying to help my uncle with his 1952 Ford 8N. It will run as long as you are spraying starting-fluid into the carburetor. He has rebuilt the carburetor, and that did not help. He took the carburetor off a second time, and went through it to make sure that he didn't miss anything. Everything seems to be in order. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to look for?

check the filter in the tank first then the filter inside the carb where the fuel line goes in but if that is ok check the jets in the carb and make sure they are adjusted

If you have good fuel flow to the carb then there is a small jet the size of a bb in the float bowl that may be the problem a small speck of rust or something . Or it could be out of adjustment .

dirt would hold it open, flooding it..this is a fuel starvation issue.

as i posted in the other thread you posted in 'parts and repairs', time to really clean the carb after a soak in a dip, then get at it with fine wire and a blow gun, plus a good 40$ rebuild kit.. that or get one of the 99$ repop ms 241 carbs.
