A friend called me today about his 1977 Ford 4100. The alt. warning light had been on, so he replaced the alternator. No change. I'm going to try to help him figure out the problem.
Does any know about this system? Internal or external regulator? I haven't looked at it yet so you know what I know about what's there.:anyone: Trouble shoot ideas welcome.:thumbsup:

Thanks, Bill

Care to share? The light on my 4100 seems to always be on more than it should be.

Sure;
There is a spade connection on the alternator. I think that it's the field connection from the regulator. The female connector that plugs into it was NG.
I like easy fixes.

My friend bought that tractor new in 1977. What a great machine. I wish they still built them like that.
