Otherwise, try driving straight ahead and bumping the throttle while applying pressure to the shift lever. The throttle bumping will momentary release pressure on the drive gears. Driving straight will assure no pressure from the differential.

Engage and disengage while moving straight. To disengage, 1st accelerate briefly full power - then let off quickly while simultaneously operating the lever.
