HELLO, I am starting another thread on this because the old link seems to be a dead end. Does anyone have a source for the 1700 axle fix?? (machine shop new) I saw a listing on Ebay a couple months ago but that is no longer there. Any help would be great. The $1500 total kit from a New Holland dealer is not in the budget right now. Tractor is good but I can't invest that much right now. Thank You

Dan

Any pictures of the damages axle and where it is attached to the frame? 2 wd or FWA? can you weld and have equipment to do so?

Is that part #38 spindle as it is shown on attached PDF? if so the part # is SBA 326040020. quickly checked with the site below and they did not have t in stock. Suggest you call them directly.

Used Farm Equipment / Used Farm Machinery Division @ Wenger's of Myerstown

If I were you I would take it to a machine shop or attempt repair myself. It will be very difficult repair. I would only attempt that if I can not find the part as I would not have anything to lose but my time. It is curious how cleanly it sheared off at the spindle shaft. The part is machined and then hardened so it is difficult to drill but not impossible. I would dill out a hole right the center of spindle and spindle shaft to receive a dowel (metal), on the spindle shaft side I would weld around the dowel. On the shaft I would drill thru the hub to to accept the dowel, dry fit and trim the dowel flush. In the spindle shaft I would grind a much larger chamfer around the shaft circumference to accept two beads of weld against the hub. I would try to grind smooth. I would also weld the end of the dowel to the outside of the hub against the wheel. This is not an easy repair and how long it would last is also questionable but perhaps it is better than having a lame tractor on hand.

I would certainly call around with the SBA # as they might cross reference that part to something that might be readily available.

JC,

How long have you owned this tractor? I'm curious, because of the number written on the back of the hub. Looks like this might have already been replaced.

Thanks for the advice JC-jetro. I need to find a machinist/welder around here to tackle the job. I have asked a couple but they refused. I live in a rural area with not much to pick from. I have tried Wenger's of Myerstown. No luck.

Btown, that was a phone number written on that hub. (machine shop did that) lol

Ford850, I sent a message on the Ebay item, waiting for answer, Thanks.
