This is my fuel cap on my 3910. What is the stuff on the cap? Looks like rust? Maybe it is but how would rust form with diesel fuel? The entire tank is lined with it and fuel shut off valve keeps getting clogged up with small particulate. Fuel is orange color too. IMG_2063.JPG

Can it do that with diesel in tank? Also can I just drain fuel? Or will it continue to be a issue?

So a living organism can survive in diesel fuel? Seriously?

Also it's fixed to walls and the cap. You can't scratch it off. But it does resemble rust

It's rust, most likely from condensation, I think Ford had a problem with this on some diesel super duties. You would not think it could happen. But diesel fuel is not engine oil.

My diesel fuel caps on the JD's are plastic,,, as well as the tank.
Maybe plastic is the right choice,,, for a change?

I never see that,,,
