I've read a lot about the seat mounts on the TC24s breaking. Well after 410 hours or so, mine has finally started showing the signs and the seat is actually starting to move around a little bit. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif Does anyone know if NH has admitted there is a problem here and will fix the seat mounts even after warranty? My warranty ran out at the end of June, but I'm going to call my dealer tomorrow and see if he can do anything to help me out, but was hoping that I could give him an official NH number. Thanks.

After 410 hours I would expect your seat to start showing some wear, especially knowing the type of seats they put on those little machines. I'd be really surprised if the dealer will tell you any different, especially since you're no longer under warranty. Our big heavy butts work those seats hard, especially after a nice big breakfast!

There are a LOT of absolutely wonderful seats on the aftermarket, use this as an opportunity to install one of them. I have a much heavier factory seat set-up on my 55... only 350 hours... still a year left on warranty. I actually wish my seat would break so I could put one of those fancy 12V air suspension seats on it. My wife won't let me upgrade until something breaks... so I actually like it when things break!

Hmmm maybe you want to buy my currant seat... not sure it'll fit on your little guy.

It isn't so much the seat, it is the actual mounting of the seat to the tractor. Even if I would replace the seat, I'm still SOL. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I know what you're talking about.

There are aftermarket mounts for the seat as well. Google 'tractor seats'....

or, just try this link:
Tractor seats

I especially like the 117 Unipro... it comes in a nice NH blue, or black, and it kind of has the NH logo in the seat, and armrests! The mount replaces your current mount. $317 *with* an improved new suspension and mount. I think it will work fine for your tractor, but to be sure, I'd call them.

Wish mine would break!

Jim,
If the mounts are the same on the TC24 as on the TC18 you may have a problem ordering just a seat. I ordered one for mine that was adjustable front to rear and had a suspension seat. I mounted it with no problem. But I didn't have enough "gut room" to sit in it. Shifted the whole seat forward too far.
If I understand correctly, it's not the seat that is the problem with yours, but where it mounts to.

Jim,

You're talking about the sheet metal fatigue where the seat mount frame connects to the tractor as discussed in this link broken seat mount , correct? I've been watching mine with no problems yet, but I think it is just a matter of time. My two year warranty runs out in October, so I'm watching this thread closely. My pivot point where the seat tilts forward is always coming loose and causes a lot more flex, it can't be good for the overall situation either. Hopefully someone will have the warranty answer.

Well, yes and now. I'm talking about the mounting, but not exactly the same as Mega_Me's. I need to look at mine closer and take a couple of pics (I'll do that tonight). But I've attached Mega's picture and circled the area where I think there is a problem with mine. My pivot points on the seat are also loose. That one seems easy enough to fix. I don't remember that extra bar going across under my seat like it does on his /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I would assume it does have it. I've also got a pretty bad squeak coming from down there (and no it isn't me /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif) everytime I move or hit a bump. That is pretty annoying to, but if I can get the mount fixed I think the squeak will go away. I didn't get a chance to call yesterday, I'll take a another look tonight and give the dealer a call tomorrow now that I'm confused. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Oooops, forgot the picture.

Looks like when they assembled that tractor, it would have held better if the bar had been underneath.

Jim,

Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of the repair, but my dealer did a great job of fixing what is obviously a poor design.

Sorry I did not chime in ealier but I was trying to get the new computer going......finally did!

I sent NH emails with pics and numerous phone calls, only to be "brushed under the carpet." They did contact my servicing dealer and get the ball rolling for repairs. I was hoping that they had some recall or "retro-fit".....nothing. They left it up to the dealer to fix it.

I felt that this was a SERIOUS safety issue whith regards to using the seat in conjunction with the seat belt as mentioned in the earlier referenced post that I had made when this all happened.

Long story short......the dealer ordered the new piece that was ripped out. Then he welded under that a piece of 1/8" plate cut to match the profile of the original piece that ripped out....drilled and modified to accomodate the parking brake, seat bolts, etc to reinforce it underneath. Next he took two diagonal pieces and welded those vertical on either side near where the bolts attach. Everything was repainted and when I picked the tractor up, you could not tell anything had been done.......LOOKED FACTORY!

This was an excellent repair and it is as strong as it should have been to begin with....absolutely no flexing or give at all. NH had the dealer take pictures and send them in. If you guys are interested PM me and I'll give you the dealer name and contact.....located in SE OHIO. Of course everything was under warranty!

Oh and that squeak you mentioned......I had that too because of the seat mounts working loose and everything was flexing. Since the repair...all quiet!

I'll try to get some pics in the next day or so of the repairs....so stay tuned!
