I have a Nufield 425 with a Ford label on each side of the hood. Anyhow the hydraulics don't work properly. When you first start it up, the 3pt hitch will raise the implement. The more you use it and the warmer the tractor gets, the 3pt hitch won't raise. Is this a fluid issue or a hydraulic pump issue? The pump is on top of the engine and is belt driven. When hot and you flip the lever to raise the 3pt hitch, the engine just revs up real high and nothing happens.

Does anyone know what model Ford this would be?

The Leyland 154 was the same as the Nuffield 4/25 apart from the change in color and three bars added to the front grill. In 1969 the retail price of the 154 De-lux was £680.

Your tractor is also known as a BMC Mini 9/16.

Before assuming something is broken internally, I'd start with the simple stuff.

First check all moving parts from the lever you mention to the casting that contains the inner parts to determine if you have any broken components. Look for bent, missing, or disconnected components. It's not unusual for control linkage to be out of alignment or broken on any tractor, especially an old one.

Next, change the hydraulic filter and fluid, ensuring your hydraulic fluid is topped up. From your description, the problem could be simple like dirty or low hydraulic fluid, or a plugged filter. These can both cause strange problems.

Once you have the thing full of clean oil, check for oil leaks. Park on a clean area overnight to find any leaks. Parking over a plastic sheet or cardboard works really well for this.

If none of this identifies a problem or shows any improvement, then you know the problem is most likely internal to the 3pt mechanism.

Most parts for this tractor are available on-line at BMC Mini.

You can also download the entire workshop manual for this tractor at BMC Mini Tractor Manual. It's over 10MB in size so will take time to download if you don't have a broadband connection to the Internet.
