Rear Remote install for TC18

All of the discussions lately regarding adding TNT and Rear
Remotes has me wanting to add a Rear Remote to my TC18.
I have read the excellent thread by JohnInCa about adding
the Rear Remote to a TC29D. Went to my dealer and got a
price of $636.00 for the kit. Also looked at the back of my
TC18 and it doesn't look like the kit installation would be the
same as it was on the TC29D. Has anyone done a Rear Remote
install on a TC18 by themselves? Even with the "new" prices
on the kits, this seems to be the highest price I have seen
for a kit. Is there something more involved or special for the
TC18 kit?

Inspector507 did the rear remote install on his TC18. If I remember correctly it was a little under $300 for the install. I do not believe the kit is the same for an 18 & a 29. Hopefully he'll chime in here and give more info.

It took the better part of an afternoon to do. Cramped quarters, but I'd do it myself again if I needed to. Mine was $255 parts only. I did hear that the price skyrocketed after I got mine. Just make sure your dealer orders them from "whole goods" if possible. That may not be an option since the TC18 has been discontinued. There are a few NH dealers here that may be able to confirm the price for you.

Thanks for the pointer to the thread. If I had searched back
more than 1 year I probably would have found it. Great pictures
and great description of the process! It looks like something I
could tackle myself. Now I just have to decide if the $636 is
