TC 30 Air Filter

I recently serviced my companies JD 4610 and noticed that the air filter was exactly the same as on my TC 30. JD # M131802 for 16.25. NH SBA314531176 for $56.03. Guess ole blue is going to have a little green in her.

I'm just curious as I too have a tc30. Did you cross reference them from a parts book, look at the dimensions of each from the book, or did you eyeball and or measure both filters physically? thanks for possibly saving us tc30 owners alot of money.

PS. this may be a stupid question, but are you talking about both inside and outside filters, or is it just one of them?

I tried crossing those 2 numbers, but only the deer number crosses at fram

Manufacturer Competitor Part Number FRAM Part Number
JOHN DEERE M131802 CA9550 42

At Filter mart.. same thing.. only JD # crosses:

22-4181 M131802 JOHN DEERE $26.06

My guess that NH # does not 'precisely' cross... even if it is a 'will fit'..

I physically checked them out. Took the old JD filter with me to my property and compared it with my TC30 filter. It was exactly the same with the exception of the inked on printing. They both had the same mold marks on the ends. interestingly they both had <PUR> molded on one end, could this be Purelator? I have not checked yet but they also look like the filters on our Kubota M series tractors. By the way this was the outer filter but I'm sure the inner would also be the same, but if I remember correctly NH doesn't get such a high price for the inner. I have seen the filter housings on other pieces of equipment before so they are probably made by a third party and marketed to whoever wants them.

No doubt that a few manufacturers make filters for lots of OEM's. I recently had to pick up some filters got some from car quest.. and some from napa as neither had the quantity I needed. Both filters were the exact same. ( neither were marked napa or carquest ).. both had the same manufacturers code on them, including identical lot number, and their 'piece' number was only 20 units apart... Small world huh..
